"I was once in your shoes. I wanted to use video but I didn't know where to start..."
I’m Jim Pirrie, and I left the Corporate Cube in 2001 to set up my own training and coaching business.
(Corporate cube being hands-on in design, development, marketing and business development in manufacturing, tech and service businesses)
I don’t know if this feels familiar to you, but sometimes even 20 years business experience in the Corporate world, MBA from a leading business school and huge enthusiasm doesn’t solve a problem. About 15 years ago I realised the power of video in business — but it was a black art to me. I felt at a loss.
I started doing the research: how video works for marketing, why it’s important, what works for what and, importantly, how to create video that is purposeful and effective.
Sometimes a selfie is fine. We all have phones with cameras — perfect for engaging, informal social content. Easy – make those yourself (although I can perhaps help you do it better!). I create those for my social feeds.
For anything else I realised you need a lot of kit — cameras, lights, microphones, even green screens and teleprompters. That means a whole load of faff setting up every time — unless you have a dedicated space.
So I created my own studio, designed to make the process as low-friction as possible and continually polished as technology moved.
As I had more and more conversations with clients, it was obvious that anxiety around video was (still is) a big deal, so I made sure the whole experience feels easeful, unobtrusive and welcoming too.
I knew from the outset I came to believe that three styles of video are particularly effective: studio interviews, teaching videos, and weatherman-style videos, so the studio is custom-built for those.
Why? I’ll explain when we meet.
For now, it’s enough to say that the Ashdown Video Studio is the easiest, most budget-friendly and least stressful way to create video for your business — because that’s what it is designed to be.
